  • Florence - four nights, includes the Medici women, Lucretia Tornaboni, mother and Clarice Orsini the wife of Lorenzo il Magnifico, and meet the beautiful and wily Caterina Sforza, whose grandson became the first Medici Grand Duke, Cosimo I. His Spanish wife, Eleanora di Toledo, left a mark on the city that is easy to see today if you know where to look.   • Mantua three nights – a jewel of a city, known for its food and the fat and sassy Isabella d’Este, art collector, city manager and intellectual - We will visit Palazzo Ducale and Palazzo Te – built in two eras by the same family.

  • A trip to Ferrara in reveals the real story of Lucretia Borgia.

  • Venice three nights - enjoy the lurid stories of the courtesans, whose company was sought by kings and princes of Renaissance Europe. Local guides will enhance our understanding of Venice in history and today. Then a day trip to the island of Murano by boat to learn about the making of glass and its contribution to Venetian history and the economy today. We won't pass up San Marco, Doges palace and other famous Venetian places either!

 

Hiking in the Footsteps of St. Francis

 

Organized especially for Italy&More by Italian Footprints, our partners in Florence. Leisurely walks start in the morning, with additional walking options in the afternoon. Walks are timed to accommodate lunch, photo ops and breaks. Meander through wooded trails, walk down dirt roads, and follow ancient cart paths.
